Music and Main Street Promote 'Songs of Tucumcari' CD with Chamber

Live music and a gathering of Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce members at our downtown Main Street office helped introduce the Songs of Tucumcari CD produced by the Chamber as a fundraising project.

Andy Mason of Portales, one of the featured musicians on the Songs of Tucumcari recording, sang "Nothing to Eat in Tucumcari," his contribution to the CD, with an assist from local musicians Danford Dan Cross and Steve Hansen.  Later, the two local musicians were joined by Tucumcarians Tom Pacheco and Mark Silla for more selections that served as a backdrop for meeting, greeting and conversation among Chamber members for the March 18, 2010, gathering.

Tucumcari Main Street volunteers also contributed to the friendly atmosphere with snacks and punch.

The CD is for sale through the Chamber of Commerce.  It features 14 songs in popular genres ranging from big-band swing to modern rock--and all of the songs make reference to Tucumcari as an outpost of the Old West, a place associated with wandering and adventure, or, in Andy Mason's case, a place where vegetarians may have a hard time finding a meal!

The CD is available through the Chamber's web site or by stopping in to its offices at 404 W. Route 66, Tucumcari.  It's cost: $15.  If you buy online, the Chamber website directs you to the PayPal service to complete the purchase, so have a credit card handy!
